About the role
Heavy Equipment Operator – Full Time (Waterloo Region)
Kieswetter Excavating Inc. is a fourth-generation, family-owned excavating contractor based in St. Clements, ON, working on some of Waterloo Region's highest-profile civil construction projects — site grading, site servicing, sewer and watermain, and earthworks. We're hiring skilled operators who want steady, year-round work and room to grow with a company that still runs like a family business.
Why Work Here
Family owned and operated — four generations in. Modern equipment and technology, not aging fleet. Promote from within — real advancement paths for operators who show up and do the work. Continuous, year-round work (not seasonal layoffs). Group benefits and company perks.
What You'll Do
Operate excavators, dozers, or other heavy equipment on active civil sites. Perform daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance checks. Read and work to grade stakes, levels, and trenching plans. Flag and communicate equipment issues or unsafe site conditions immediately. Follow Kieswetter's safety program and site-specific protocols. Coordinate with the site supervisor on project layout, locates, and daily production targets.
What You Bring
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites across Waterloo Region. Previous experience operating heavy equipment in construction, excavation, or a similar outdoor trade. Working knowledge of grades, levels, and trenching. Physical stamina for full days on an active job site. A sharp eye for hazards and the judgment to call them out.
Schedule
Monday to Friday, with regular overtime and weekend availability during peak season. Shifts typically run 10–14 hours depending on project needs.
Location
Primarily Waterloo Region, with occasional travel to project sites across Southern Ontario.
