Summary:

Providence Health Care’s new St. Paul’s Hospital Project – IT Program is hiring! We are looking for a Senior Business Analyst for our Clinical & Business Systems portfolio.

IT Program Vision: To be a national healthcare reference centre for best practice information technology solutions that enable patients and families, clinical professionals, academics, and research partners to improve the patient care experience.

In this position, you will be working on the New St Paul’s Hospital Cerner Build Project. You will report to Nancy Nguyen, Program Manager, Clinical & Business Systems. This position will join an exceptional, hardworking team, and you will be working directly with the NSPH Senior Project Manager on a day-to-day basis. The IT Program Executive Director, Jordan Pope, leads the team through a strong vision and a wealth of redevelopment expertise.

What You Bring:

Recent, related, progressively responsible experience, preferably within a health authority environment, including experience in business analysis, and facilitating and managing consultation processes with multiple parties with vested interest is required.

The following experience is preferred, but not mandatory:

  • Experience working on large, complex projects involving multiple organizations and teams
  • Experience working with CST Cerner Project
  • Experience developing and monitoring project metrics

Please note: this is a hybrid-role where the onsite office(s) will be the on the NSPH site and St. Paul’s Hospital office, located on Comox St. in downtown Vancouver. Regular on-site presence required 2-3 days a week. Closer to NSPH Opening Day, this role may require more than 2-3 days a week of on-site presence at the NSPH site to support solution deployment, training, and testing activities.

What You Bring:

Education:
A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline (such as Health Information Science), supplemented by formal training in business analysis or project management, plus three (3) to five (5) years' recent, related, progressively responsible experience, preferably within a health authority environment including experience in business analysis, and facilitating and managing consultation processes with stakeholder groups is required.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of project structures; business case development; contract management; documentation of workflows; health care setting and analytical tools.

  • Knowledge of business analysis and project management principles and methodologies and ability to coach team members on these skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze operational problems and recommend innovative solutions; systematic analysis and critical thinking skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively support planning and analysis of multiple technology system projects simultaneously.

  • Demonstrated understanding of available resources for projects and applicable stakeholder groups including feedback and detailed analysis on project processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead staff in a team environment and to work effectively as part of a team; leadership and management skills.

  • Highly developed business writing and oral communication skills with the ability to document work appropriately; pays close attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify, plan, organize, prioritize and implement projects in a timely manner in a dynamic project environment with changing priorities. Effective time management skills are required.

  • Possesses business acumen and analytical skills to anticipate financial, technical and business requirements and ensure effective use of resources; demonstrates strategic thinking.

  • Demonstrated ability to exercise tact, good judgment and initiative, deal with frequent and random changes; make decisions for a wide variety of complex business matters.

  • Demonstrated ability to use database, spreadsheet and word processing software at an advanced level; is resourceful and well-organized.

  • Ability to operate related equipment including related software applications.

  • Technical writing skills are considered an asset.

  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Your Day to Day:

  • Provides strategic planning support and change management services by leading and performing feasibility studies, requirements gathering and implementation support.
  • Establishes effective communications channels to ensure stakeholders are fully engaged and aware of project status; provides frequent clear and concise reports regarding ongoing issues, progress updates, challenges and opportunities.
  • Leads and participates in the analysis, acceptance criteria definition, development, testing, training, implementation and sustainability phases of assigned projects. Carries out post-implementation reviews and makes recommendations for improvements.
  • Provides support by conveying policies and priorities, directing work and ensuring issues are resolved or escalated to appropriate level(s) to meet project deliverables and timelines.
  • Provides technical and business direction and guidance to other project staff by identifying staff required, assigning tasks to staff, setting priorities and reassigns work when necessary to ensure project deadlines are met.
  • Leads business plan development for projects through the preparation of feasibility studies and/or technical analysis and solution development, development of the project charter, functional requirements, scope and design concepts, budgets and implementation planning.
  • Ensures key results are achieved in accordance with the project plan by analyzing current business systems and processes, generating ideas and formulating recommendations/options, and supporting members of the project in reaching decisions that are within project scope and timelines.
  • Carries out project plans according to established Providence Health Care project methodologies and systems to ensure successful and coordinated completion of project components by facilitating consensus with stakeholders. Monitors project charter, plans, budget, scope, schedule, expenditures, client satisfaction and risks; reports on variances and impacts to deliverables, and makes recommendations to NSP Project leadership to mitigate cost overruns, maintain adherence to allocated budgets and timelines, and ensure delivery of a successful project.
  • Applies business analysis expertise to advise and assist senior management in achieving its vision and strategic direction through the development supporting documentation and artifacts for submission to various stakeholders including Executives and Government.
  • Gathers, analyzes and summarizes data; collates and presents findings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
