About the role

We’re looking for a dynamic Manager, Internal Logistics to lead and optimize the flow of materials across multiple sites, ensuring production runs smoothly and efficiently. In this role, you’ll manage a team of material supervisors and logistics professionals responsible for receiving, storing, picking, processing, and delivering materials to production lines—keeping operations on track and minimizing delays or excess inventory.

  • Lead & Develop Teams: Manage and mentor material supervisors and logistics employees to foster a high-performing, safety-focused culture.

  • Optimize Material Flow: Ensure just-in-time delivery of materials to production lines, avoiding delays and excess stock.

  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Analyze logistics operations, identify bottlenecks, and implement lean methodologies to reduce downtime and eliminate waste.

  • Ensure Safety & Compliance: Conduct regular safety audits, enforce workplace standards, and mitigate risks in material handling operations.

  • Collaborate Across Departments: Work closely with production, procurement, and other teams to align logistics with operational goals.

  • Plan & Coordinate Logistics: Develop strategies for efficient storage, handling, and movement of materials between sites, ensuring timely deliveries.

  • Monitor Performance: Track KPIs such as inventory accuracy, delivery times, and equipment utilization. Use data-driven insights to improve performance.

  • Manage Vendor Relationships: Oversee vendor-managed inventory programs and maintain strong partnerships with external providers.

  • Support Unionized Workforce: Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements, including labour rules and dispute resolution processes.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or related field. Certifications such as CITT, SCMP, P.Log, PMP are an asset.

  • Experience:

    • 7–10 years in Supply Chain, Transportation, Distribution, or Inventory Management.
    • 4–7 years of leadership experience in a unionized environment.

    • Financial Management
    • Business Systems, Project Management, Data Analysis & Reporting
    • Lean & Continuous Improvement
  • Industry Expertise: Experience in complex industrial environments or defence industry; shipbuilding experience is an asset

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
