SUMMARY
The Student Visual Graphic Designer will support a community-based research initiative focused on the sexual health of women and LGBTQ+ individuals from India. This role involves developing visual graphic designs and website design/hosting in collaboration with community partners, aimed at using imagery to foster knowledge exchange. Key responsibilities include creating visual concepts, developing illustrations, and collaborating with teams to produce effective communication materials. This is a part-time position offered on a one-month deliverable contract ending September 30, 2025.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create visual materials that supports the research team’s work on reproductive and sexual health among South Asian women and LGBTQ+ students in the Lower Mainland.
- The visual materials should communicate who the research team is and their goals and process in clear and engaging ways.
- Develop illustrations and graphics optimized for social media, website, community spaces, and conference use, some of which will also incorporate multilingual elements (English, Punjabi, and Hindi). The visuals should support education, community engagement, and advocacy throughout the project.
- Website design and hosting to share the research project ideas and development of the research project.

- One visual snapshot and partnership overview
- Three Research process and Objective infographic series
- One Lived Experiences and Barriers illustration panel
- One Knowledge mobilization and advocacy graphic
- Website design and hosting
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current KPU students, preferably with prior experience in graphic design, website design and hosting and/or academic or applied research, either through coursework or involvement in research projects, is desirable.
- Interest or experience in community-based research or topics related to sexual health, women’s rights, and LGBTQ+ advocacy
- Excellent time management skills to meet project deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proven ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands and dealing with change, delays or unexpected events, keeping constant sight of the overall objectives.
- Strong interpersonal skills including teamwork, critical thinking, and problem solving.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to assist in writing research reports, presenting findings and communicating with team members.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative and overcome obstacles.
- Proven ability to recognize and maintain highest levels of confidentiality.
- Ability to maintain poise and professionalism in all types of situations.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to assist in writing research reports and communicating with team members.
SALARY INFORMATION
Anticipated hourly pay rate: $23.00
