Reporting to the Senior Director, Corporate Development, you will work within a high-performing team and will play a key role in evaluating and executing strategic acquisitions and divestitures that align with Nutrien’s overall objectives. You will work closely with team members across various business units and will support the full transaction lifecycle from assessing market opportunities, assisting with valuation and financial analyses, preparing and reviewing marketing materials, developing internal presentations and communications, and facilitating or conducting due diligence. The ideal candidate would be analytical, detail-oriented, thrive in a fast-paced, high-impact corporate environment and bring a solid understanding of finance, valuation and M&A transactions along with a strong desire for continuous learning.

What you will do:

  • Support all phases of an M&A transaction including opportunity identification, assessment of strategic fit, preliminary analysis, internal discussions and approvals, due diligence, transaction documentation, and integration planning.
  • Assist with valuation modeling and analysis to support potential acquisitions, divestments, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare and review M&A process documents including teasers, confidential information memorandums, and internal approval presentations.
  • Contribute to the team’s continuous improvement efforts.
  • Work effectively within a small, highly accountable team; displaying a flexible “can do” attitude and willingness to complete challenging tasks.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal cross-functional project teams as well as external advisors.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of Nutrien’s business units to effectively support strategic investment objectives.
  • Take a proactive approach to tasks at hand and respond in a timely manner to the needs of team members and leadership.
  • Manage deadlines across multiple projects.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Enrollment in or completion of a financial designation (CPA, CBV, CFA) is preferred but not required.
  • 2 to 5 years of related experience in mergers & acquisitions, investment banking, corporate development, corporate finance, consulting, private equity, or a related field.
  • Financial modeling and valuation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and project management skills.
  • Analytical mindset with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Additional assets include knowledge of M&A processes and documents as well as familiarity with the agriculture and/or commodities sectors.
