The opportunity:
The Student Counselling Centre at the University of Manitoba is inviting applications for a part-time (.4 FTE) psychometrist position. The successful applicant will provide learning disability and ADHD assessments under the supervision of one of our psychologists. Duties will include reviewing assessment request forms to identify battery of tests to be administered; engaging student clients in a clinical interview to gather relevant history; administering and scoring psychological and neuropsychological measures, interpreting results, and creating written reports, and providing feedback to the student client.
The qualifications and experience we’re looking for:
- Completion of a bachelor's degree with honors in psychology and assessment training is required. This training would ideally be a graduate level assessment course.
- A master's degree in clinical or school psychology is preferred.
- Some previous assessment experience is required - completion of a practicum with an assessment component or one year experience in a psychometrist position.
- Experience with administration of standardized psychological tests, specifically experience administering the Weschler Adult Intelligence Scale - Fourth Edition is required.
- Experience with writing assessment reports is required.
- Knowledge of diagnostic criteria for specific learning disorders, ADHD, and common mental health disorders is required.
- Experience with achievement measures and personality tests are preferred.
- Experience working in a post-secondary institution with students is preferred.
- Knowledge of University of Manitoba policies, procedures and administrative systems is preferred.
- Experience working within the disability community is an asset.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Must possess strong time management and organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Strong written skills, including knowledge of grammar rules, are required.
- Must also be able to draw inferences from various data sources in order to form diagnostic impressions.
- Ability to develop rapport with students being assessed is required.
- The ability to multitask is required.
- The ability to adapt is also required.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
