Role Overview
The Project Coordinator will support digital model creation, shop drawing development, and fabrication strategy under the guidance of the Project Leader and Sr Project Leader. This role contributes to the digital aspect of projects by utilizing strong CAD skills and organizational abilities. The Project Coordinator will work with increasing independence while managing priorities with regular support and oversight. This role will collaborate with other project team members to help ensure smooth project execution from design assist through fabrication.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Project Leadership
- Contribute to design assist initiatives as directed by Project Leaders and Sr Project Leaders, involving digital models, concept exploration and testing, graphic scope overviews, budgetary pricing, connection proposals, schedules, and project logistics
- Collaborate with team members to find innovative solutions to complex problems
Modelling & Drafting
- Convert digital models between various software, ensuring effective and consistent model organization and adherence to standards
- Perform high quality and complex modelling and drafting exercise
- Develop 3D models and create shop drawing packages under the guidance and supervision of experienced team members. This work represents the majority of daily responsibilities
Contract Support & Procurement
- Provide support to project teams in estimating and quoting efforts as requested
- Assist project teams in creating various project documentation, including scope proposals, strategy proposals, and connection proposals, to facilitate project estimating
- Generate material take-offs and perform quantity surveying on a project-specific basis as directed by the project team
- Contribute to project-specific material procurement and purchasing as directed by the project team
Communication & Quality Assurance
- Ensure quality control processes are adhered to
- Ensure QA/QC standards are upheld
- Maintain an open and collaborative approach within the project team
Fabrication Liaising
- Collaborate with Sr Project Coordinator and Project Leader to prepare projects for CNC processing and fabrication
- Create project-specific production drawings and lists
- Attend internal project kick-off meetings, ensuring that all project-specific goals and standards are understood
- Understand and check in on the fabrication progress, ensuring project-specific QA/QC is adhered to

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Attributes
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in architecture, project management, construction management, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in design or project coordination, preferably in timber fabrication, mass timber, architecture, or construction industry
- Proficiency in Cadwork and architectural modeling software (Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper)
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment while working autonomously
- High attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks with a strong graphic sensibility
- Experience in construction, particularly framing, carpentry, or steel fabrication/erection (preferred)
Schedule and Working Conditions
- Ability to work 8:30am – 5:00pm Monday to Friday
- Ability to work on-site at Spearhead offices
- Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office equipment on a regular basis
- Ability to stand and move around the fabrication shop for work shifts
- Ability to move and carry materials up to 20 lbs on an occasional basis
Compensation
- Pay range estimate is $60-$75K commensurate with experience and qualifications

The Spearhead team is comprised of designers and technologists, craftspersons and builders, managers and planners. This unique blend of individuals coupled with a passionate pursuit of excellence and dedication to craft, has given Spearhead the solid reputation it has today.
The Spearhead manufacturing facility is located on the west arm of Kootenay Lake in the Southern Interior of British Columbia. The 40,000 sq.ft. facility houses full-service millwork and timberframe shops featuring CNC manufacturing and timber milling equipment along with design and administration offices.
Spearhead has the unique ability to supply a wide range of building components from structural timber and steel, to panelized wall and roof assemblies, millwork and finish materials. Spearhead collaborates with industry-leading professionals including designers, architects and engineers as well as a host of other consultants across North America with whom they share passion for and dedication to their work. Spearhead also maintains key relationships with many specialized fabricators and unique suppliers to provide the wide variety of products required for its projects.
All projects are developed using BIM software to achieve fabrication-level digital models which interface directly with CNC machinery. This information is shared with project partners to review connections and coordinate site-built and prefabricated components.
Wherever possible, structural and architectural components are designed, engineered, and pre-manufactured parallel with site construction, allowing for just-in-time delivery and compressed construction schedules. Keeping the production process in a controlled environment at our facility greatly enhances quality, enables cost control and promotes manufacturing efficiency.
