The Opportunity:

The Sr. Analyst – Deal Capture and Contracts takes a proactive role in managing Sunoco’s supply and trading contracts. Responsibilities include reviewing, monitoring, executing, amending, and retaining trade confirmations and agreements. The Sr. Analyst – Deal Capture and Contracts will provide daily trade confirmation execution support to the front office and work with other SMEs to review agreements as needed. This position plays a vital role in identifying areas of automation and process improvement. The successful candidate will operate as a value-add business partner, brining insight on efficient contract management process and proving excellent services to different business units across Sunoco’s supply and trading business. In addition, Sr. Analyst – Deal Capture and Contracts will also be responsible for providing training and necessary supports to Contracts Analysts.

Responsibilities:

Prepare, Review, Approve, Execute and File Agreements, Trade Confirmations, Logistics and Operation Agreements and Supporting Documents:

  • Work closely with Front Office, Legal, Insurance, Tax, Customs, Compliance and Credit for drafting sale and service agreements, review supplier’s agreement,

  • general terms & conditions, amending and renewing agreements

  • Review and approve trade. This includes monitor new deal set up in ERP system and ensure entry of trades data are accurate and compliance with system and contract management process requirement.

  • Review and confirm counterparties’ trade confirmations; work with marketers and customers to resolve any discrepancies and return the executed copies to customer in a timely manner.

  • Prepare Sunoco’s trade confirmations, ensure marketers review and sign the confirmations on time as per Sunoco’s TAM and send out to the counterparty for execution.

  • Review transportation and operation related agreements, engage internal subject matter expert as needed and help logistics and operations team to execute agreements.

Automation and Process Improvement:

  • Maintain an evolving knowledge of changing industry practices, recognizing trends and identifying new business needs, work with Contracts Analysts, Front Office, Logistics & Operations in the development and continuous improvement of Sunoco’s standard contract templates.

  • Review and update contract management processes to optimize efficiency.

  • Explore an opportunity to automate manual works including trade review, approve, execution and reporting process. Work with Contract Analysts to understand challenges, propose a solution, obtain approval, and implement projects.

Reporting and Training:

  • Work closely with Contracts Analysts and IT to develop new and improve current reports. Assess an opportunity and automate manual report to Power BI.
  • Educate and train front office, logistics, operations, and contracts team on new and changes on processes.
  • Provide necessary support to Contracts Manager on contract management process, reports and ad hoc projects.

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in law, finance, business administration or relevant experience.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 4-7 years related experience in contract management, preferably in commodity contract management.
  • Exception understanding of commodity contracts and delivery terms including Incoterm.
  • Experience in reviewing, drafting and negotiating contracts.
  • Professional designation (CCM Practitioner) or any other contracts management related designation would be an additional value.
  • Excellent understanding of contractual risk and able to interpret contract language.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Understand commercial insurance would be an asset.
  • Experience on ERP System, CLM System, Monday.com, MS Office and SharePoint would be an asset.
  • Attention to Detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team situation and make good judgements regarding priorities with limited close supervision.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and multitask.
