We are looking for a temporary full-time Food Services Supervisor to join our team at Dorchester Terrace Retirement Residence! This position requires flexibility to accept shifts according to the operational needs of the residence, including weekends.

About The Role
- Leads and assists the food production operations of the Residence to maintain nutritional standards and functions to ensure quality of services for residents that includes daily preparation of meals depending on shifts, breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
- Adheres to company policies, procedures, practices, and philosophies. Works in accordance with all industry and regulatory compliance agencies, the Ontario Retirement Communities Association, The Retirement Homes Act 2010 and O. Reg 166/1, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Fire Code, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, and other pertinent legislated regulations/ standards.
- Maintains a clean and safe Residence environment for residents and team members, ensuring that safe job routines are developed and followed, recognizing safety hazards and taking appropriate action. Knowledgeable of WHMIS/GHS program and reports and advises the General Manager immediately of all staff incidents that may result in a WSIB claim or other serious occurrences.
Experience
- Eligible for membership in the Food Service Supervisor’s Association/Management.
- Three years’ experience in a related environment is preferred.
- Cooking experience is required.
- Self-directed and team-oriented, with strong organizational, leadership, initiative and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be committed to multi-disciplinary teamwork and demonstrate an ability to work through collaboration, joint decision making and integrated strategies.
- Proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook in order to effectively communicate electronically. Willingness to learn multiple computer applications related to Operations, Recognition and Customer Relations.
- Must successfully complete a Police Records Check and disclose any convictions, charges, restraining orders, probation orders and/or warrants during the course of employment that affect in any way the clear Police Records Check.
- Must provide documentation to support a Tuberculosis Skin Test (TST) or Medical Note from Physician stating free from infectious disease.
- Skill in planning, coordinating and supervising comprehensive food services programs.
- Demonstrates knowledge of all regulations under the Acts that govern the standards in health care facilities.
- Demonstration of leadership and teaching skills. Knowledge of the food services needs of the elderly so as to assess, plan, supervise and evaluate it.
