Head Golf Coach
About the role
Located in the heart of the Niagara region – just minutes from one of the world’s most well-known tourism destinations – Niagara College offers more than 130 innovative programs between our campuses in Welland and Niagara-on-the-Lake. Since opening its doors in 1967, Niagara College has grown to become a leader in education and training and one of the most enterprising colleges in Canada.
Applications are invited for the position of head coach, golf in the Athletics and Student Engagement division, located at the Welland Campus. The annual salary for this position is $3000. Part time hours will vary according to peak season requirements.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Athletics & Student Engagement, the successful candidate will work within the golf program. The Niagara College Knights compete in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) and are a member of the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).
###Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and implement an annual training and competition program to maximize all opportunities for success in the OCAA/CCAA
- Support and monitor student-athletes’ academic progress
- Establish a strong golf recruiting network
- Provide appropriate physical and mental training programs
- Integrate development opportunities with local golf clubs and programs
- Support and act in accordance to the strategic direction and initiatives as they relate to student-athlete support, general promotions, budget management, appropriate administrative responsibilities, and community/alumni relations
- Leading the program in accordance to Niagara College, OCAA, and CCAA policies and procedures
###Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma or similar field of study
- Minimum four (4) years of relevant experience at the competitive level
- Professional Golfers’ Association of Canada (PGA) Class “A” Professional, or on the pathway to become a Class “A” Professional
- Previous coaching experience in the OCAA/CCAA, Ontario University Athletics (OUA)/USPORT and/or elite club level is considered an asset
