About Us STEM Innovation Academy is a public charter school in Calgary serving Grades 7–12. Our Northwest Junior High campus, located in Calgary's University Innovation Quarter, serves 315 students in Grades 7-9 and continues to grow as one of Alberta's most in-demand STEM programs.
Our mission is to inspire the next generation to be knowledgeable creators, innovators, and responsible leaders. At the high school level, we combine rigorous academic programming with authentic STEM experiences, leadership development, and post-secondary pathways. Our Model of Instruction blends direct teaching and guided inquiry within a strong culture grounded in Character, Collaboration, and Curiosity.

- There is no tuition. Aside from standard instructional fees common to public schools, there is no cost to attend STEM IA.

Required Education and Experience
- Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
- Bachelor of Education Degree or equivalent recognized by Alberta Education
- Successful teaching experience in grade nine ELA or Social Studies is preferred

- Exemplary, evidence-based instructional practices in ELA and social studies that lead to student success
- Experience, confidence, knowledge, and understanding of Alberta Program of Studies for ELA and social studies.??
- Commitment to academic rigor and excellence.
- Commitment to ongoing collaboration with staff team in developing innovative learning experiences for students
- Strong ability to build and maintain trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and parents
- Commitment to infusing technology into core curriculum where appropriate
- Innovator's mindset - willingness to take risks and adapt to new challenges and interested in acquiring the skill sets required to teach various STEM complementary courses
- Basic understanding of design & engineering, digital media technologies, and/or computational thinking
- Willingness to adapt and grow in a constantly evolving environment.
- Competent in using online learning support tools such as MS 365 for Education, Schoology, GradeCam, Edwin, etc.
