Senior Corporate Lawyer for mid-sized full service law firm client, Barrie.

Job Type: Full-time Permanent.
Compensation: From $150,000 to $175,000 per annum, according to experience, plus comprehensive benefits.

Regular Work Hours: FULL TIME WORK HOURS – 7.0 work hours per day, not including unpaid 1 hour lunch break, to be worked during regular business hours, Monday to Friday (35 work hours per week).
Work Location: Hybrid with 3 days onsite and 2 days per week remote at Client’s Barrie office. Onsite work expectations subject always to client business requirements, and may change according to client business need.
Responsibilities Summary:
Provide legal advice and representation in corporate and commercial matters, managing complex files independently while contributing to the growth of a collaborative and high-performing legal team.
- Provide legal advice and representation in corporate organizations and re-organizations.
- Act on structured financings, private placements, business acquisitions, and dispositions.
- Draft and negotiate a wide range of general corporate and commercial agreements.
- Handle complex files independently and collaborate with other lawyers and team members as needed.
- Engage in client relationship building and business development activities.
- Additional legal responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
Education: JD degree from a recognized law school.
Professional Credentials: Licensed L1 member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
Preferred Work Experience: Minimum 5+ years of progressive corporate and commercial law experience in private practice.
Preferred Sector Experience: Private practice law firm experience required.
Technical and Language Skills Requirements:
- Proficient English communication skills, both written and verbal, including advanced legal writing skills, and polished, professional client presentation.
Task-Based Qualifications and Additional Attributes:
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
- Proven ability to handle corporate and commercial files independently and efficiently.
- Demonstrated record of professional conduct and character. Responsible, reliable and works to deadlines.
- Superior attention to detail, and organized, methodical approach to completion of tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to work well independently, collaboratively, and in an advisory capacity, and liaise effectively with a wide and diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong relationship management skills including client relations, negotiation, and advisory skills. Excellent listening skills, and the ability to provide and receive effective feedback.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, providing satisfactory documentation upon request.
- Ability to work both remotely and onsite, abiding by organization health and safety policies.
- Ability to promptly provide minimum of 2 reasonably recent, qualified employment references upon request who are available to speak with either Marberg or Marberg's client.
- Ability to declare personal Non-Conflict of Interest in execution of assignment responsibilities prior to assignment start.
- Provision of certification of AODA and OHSA online training course completion prior to assignment start.
- Satisfactory Background Checks and Employment References as required.
