Key Responsibilities:
Production 80%
- Operate equipment to cut sheets of glass to be used in sealed unit production according to the sizes provided.
- Handle stack glass and work various sizes of glass.
- Identify materials that do not meet the quality requirements and reporting the defective material to the Team Leader.
- Complete quality related documents accurately and in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with the continuous improvement team and look for improved ways of performing your duties.
- Identify and demonstrate use of personal protective equipment required for the safe handling of glass.
- Work with team members to ensure the highest quality and efficiency in the production process.
Housekeeping and Health & Safety 20%
- Clean under the sheet.
- Understand and follow safety procedures, know the limits of what you can and cannot do.
- Keep work area free from clutter, recycling waste, and removing all dust daily.
- Follow on site safe work practices - Fall Protection training, First Aid, WHMIS.
- Follow health and safety regulations by wearing required equipment and protection.
- Identify and demonstrate use of personal protective equipment.
- Follow all injury prevention policies and procedures.
- Report all activities and hazards that may create an unsafe work environment.
Skills Required:
- Computer Skills
- Glass Handling Knowledge
- CNC Machine knowledge
- Measuring Tape
- Small Glass Cutting Tool
Your experience is:
- 1+ years' experience working with and handling glass.
- Able to identify the different types of glass.
- Good knowledge of glass, sealed unit manufacture processes, and the operation of equipment used in cutting glass.
- Competent in safe glass handling, and identification of types of glass verification.
- Comfortable with units of measure such as mm and inches (metric system).
- Comfortable with computer applications used in the manufacturing process.
- Experience working with diverse cultures and a varied workforce.
Competencies – you’re good at:
- Able to read and interpret specification sheets.
- Creative, artistic and enjoying working with your hands.
- Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
- Troubleshooting abilities to analyze problem and provide solutions.
- Communication effectively in English both verbal and written.
- High comfort level working in a fast-paced team environment that is constantly changing.
- Self-starter with the ability to work with little supervision.
- Pressure to produce tangible results and complete projects within tight timelines.
- Ability to prioritize your daily work and organize yourself to meet multiple deadlines and meet customer needs.
Working conditions:
- Lifting and/or carrying anywhere from 0 lbs to 50 lbs.
- Work in a production facility.
- Repetitive movements and work.
- Standing for extended periods.
- Involves sitting, walking, standing, bending, stooping on a regular basis.
- Walking near to heavy tool and moving machinery.
- Exposure to all types of weather conditions, and dirt, dust and noise.
- Flexibility in scheduling depending on production demands - able to work day &/or evening shift.
- Opportunity for overtime on short notice due to operational needs.
