About The Role We are looking for a highly skilled IT Consultant who can assess complex business challenges and deliver robust technical solutions across diverse environments. They will excel in every phase—from requirements gathering to deployment, troubleshooting, and ongoing support—translating business needs into effective, scalable technology strategies.
Collaborating with project teams, vendors, architects, and stakeholders, the IT Consultant must interpret technical briefs and verbal inputs to produce actionable solutions that align with organizational goals. The ideal candidate demonstrates deep knowledge of software development lifecycles, change management, Agile practices, and infrastructure optimization. They must execute at a high level, integrating risk mitigation, stakeholder consensus, and performance metrics to drive improvements without disrupting operations.
Reporting to project leadership, this role provides critical technical oversight for solution maintenance, support, and enhancement in Ontario government digital services.
What You'll Do
This role delivers technical leadership across solution lifecycle activities, including collaboration, support, deployment, risk management, and optimization. Key responsibilities include:
Responsibilities / Assignment Deliverables
- Collaborate with new vendor solutions, project teams, solution architects, ITS, LTC IAST staff, and third parties to facilitate agreement on technical issues or enhancements.
- Provide technical support coordination for QA and UAT testing, including engagement of existing support teams.
- Support cloud pipeline configuration, management, and deployment.
- Contribute to deliverables like solution concept documents, infrastructure builds, and requirements documents for support and maintenance.
- Lead desktop package certification and installation.
- Maintain environment readiness (HW, Security Patching, SW, NSG’s/Network, VPN, VDI access for teams).
- Complete connections to non-core/legacy components for maintenance and support.
- Offer expertise in release/deployment management, change management, problem/incident management, service level management, environment greening, and service transition.
- Manage changes to scope/schedule/quality via change requests for infrastructure, network, and access.
- Oversee code/package drops into QA/UAT/Production environments.
- Optimize Hardware/Peripherals and Software Inventory to control Azure hosting costs.
- Proactively identify technical risks, propose mitigations, and follow up on strategies/issues.
- Complete client-side elements like desktop certification, peripherals setup.
- Provide technical leadership, coordination, and facilitation for maintenance/support tasks.
- Partner with clients to advise on IT for business objectives, improving I&IT systems structure and efficiency.
- Deliver strategic guidance on IM/IT, infrastructures, and business process enablement.
- Provide subject matter expertise and highly expert technical assistance.
Skills Set

- Senior experience supporting large applications via LTC/ITS, Oracle, .Net, Java, AKS, SonarQube, DevOps, Microsoft.
- Knowledge of GO-ITS 25 Security Standards and GO-ITS 56 Architecture Standards.
- Knowledge of leading-edge technologies, security/recovery, specs for systems; assess performance/capacity.
- Basic project management, analytical tools/processes.
- Conceptual/analytical skills for client needs, cost/benefit analyses.
- Senior experience evaluating systems for condition/performance/capacity.
- Senior experience in Service Management (Release/Deployment, Change, Configuration, Availability, Capacity, Problem/Incident, Service Level).
- Team player meeting deadlines.
- Experience with Oracle, Information & Analytics, Terraform, Ansible.
- Knowledge of OPS gating/architecture checkpoints, security (CSA, TRA, PCI, PIA), performance tuning.
- Understanding of REST API Architecture, Enterprise Linux (patching via Satellite), web dev setup, Web Services, workflows.
- Computing environments: Database (Oracle, MS SQL), CRM (Siebel Open UI, admin/upgrades), Mid Tier (BPM), Platforms (Linux/MS Azure), Servers (WebLogic, WebSphere, IIS), hybrid mainframe.
- Toolsets: DevOps (config/builds), IDEs, UML, Eclipse, JUnit, Log4J.
- Familiar with Siebel Open UI/.Net.
- Proven experience with automated systems in complex Client/Server/Mainframe (OOA&D UML).
- Agile methodologies for development/design/implementation/maintenance.
Experience And Skill Set Requirements Business Analysis (25%)

- Apply re-engineering for cost-effective improvements.
- Transform business to systems requirements with acceptance criteria.
