Veterinary Assistant

Location: Calgary, Alberta

Department: Cardiology

Western Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Centre is currently welcoming a dependable and confidentVeterinary Assistant to join the Cardiology Department. This opportunity includes a range of responsibilities which directly contribute to the efficient and effective daily operation of the hospital. Your primary responsibility is to assist our veterinary staff with various tasks and treatments.

• Assist veterinary staff with various tasks and treatments
• Create a warm and welcoming environment for our patients and pet parents
• Create a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients
• Assist in preparing patients for ECG, surgical and other related procedures (Holter monitors)
• General housekeeping duties; cleanliness of reception area, pet holding areas and common areas
• Willingness to learn more regarding veterinary services, updated medical office procedures and assisting the Veterinary staff with various tasks and treatments
• Exceptional client service skills
• Compassion and a nurturing attitude
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
• Ability to adapt to changing situations
• Must be able to work effectively in a close-knit team environment, collaborating and supporting team goals.
• Efficient in carrying out assignments independently
• Takes initiative to complete tasks throughout the day

Schedule: This shift is from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Thursday.
