Tooling Engineering Coordinator

Location: Montreal, Quebec

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for schedule and control of tooling and equipment calibration in accordance with production rate requirements
  • Perform tooling equivalency for local manufactured tools that meet the task requirements and integrate well with the existing tools
  • Develop and implement interim solutions for damaged and unsafe equipment and tooling
  • Determines requirements for tools/machines needed in all areas of the plant while meeting the program cost and schedule requirements
  • Engage with supply chain and other business-units to define and to deliver new tooling, meeting quality, cost, and delivery target
  • Works with machine shops to have tools fabricated and with Operations to verify new tools
  • Contribute to the operational effectiveness of the team, such as optimizing workflow and continuous improvement
  • Ensure quality of work, and approve solutions developed by the team

Qualifications:

Required Skills:

  • Mechanical, aeronautical, materials, manufacturing or equivalent engineering degree from an accredited university
  • Minimum of Five (5) years relevant experience or equivalent
  • Member or eligible to become member of the “Ordre des Ingenieurs du Quebec”
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency - Excel, Word, Power Point, etc…
  • Excellent communication skills in English (verbally and in writing)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in tooling maintenance, manufacturing processes and shop floor interaction.
  • Familiar with jet engine design process and tooling definition release process.
  • Experience in a commercial CAD software such as SolidWorks.
  • Experience in a commercial enterprise resource planning software such as Quantum control.
  • Knowledge of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, precision grinders
  • Knowledge of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments
  • Knowledge of special processes: Water Jet, Plasma, Shape Deposition Manufacturing (SDM), Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS), Shot Peening, Welding, Cleaning Systems
  • Excellent communication skills in French (verbally and in writing)
