Position Summary
We are seeking a strategic, hands-on Director, Human Resources to lead the people function across a growing group of companies. This role is responsible for building scalable HR infrastructure, strengthening leadership capability, supporting multi-entity operations, and ensuring a consistent, compliant, high-performance employee experience across the organization.
This is a pivotal leadership role for a senior HR professional who can move seamlessly between strategy and execution. You will partner closely with executives and operating leaders, while also ensuring the fundamentals of HR are strong, practical, and built to scale.
Key Responsibilities
HR Strategy and Business Partnership

Lead the HR strategy across multiple operating companies, ensuring alignment with business priorities, growth plans, and leadership
objectives.

Act as a trusted advisor to executives and senior leaders on organizational design, workforce planning, succession, employee
relations, and leadership effectiveness.

Build and standardize HR programs, policies, and practices across the group while respecting the unique needs of each business
unit.

Support integration, restructuring, and change management initiatives as the organization evolves.
Talent Acquisition and Workforce Planning
- Develop and lead a proactive talent strategy for corporate, operational, clinical, technical, and frontline roles.
- Improve hiring processes, recruitment capability, employer branding, and onboarding across the group.
- Partner with leaders to identify workforce gaps, critical roles, and future talent needs.
- Build stronger internal talent pipelines and succession plans for leadership and hard-to-fill positions.
Employee Relations and Performance

Provide senior-level support on employee relations matters, investigations, conflict resolution, corrective action, and performance
management.

Coach managers to lead confidently, consistently, and in alignment with company values and employment standards.

Implement practical performance frameworks that improve accountability, clarity, and development.

Partner with leaders to elevate engagement, retention, and manager effectiveness across multiple teams and locations.
HR Operations, Policies, and Compliance

Oversee core HR operations, including policies, employee documentation, organizational records, compliance processes, and HR
systems.

Ensure compliance with applicable employment legislation, HR best practices, and policy governance across jurisdictions.

Review and modernize employee handbooks, policies, templates, and manager tools.

Partner with payroll, finance, and operations to ensure sound practices related to compensation administration, benefits, leaves, and
employee changes.
Leadership Development and Culture
- Help define and strengthen a culture that is high-performance, people-centered, accountable, and operationally excellent.
- Design and implement leadership development initiatives for managers and emerging leaders.
- Support employee engagement efforts that improve communication, trust, recognition, and retention.
- Champion practical DEI, respectful workplace, and leadership standards across the organization.
Risk Management and Organizational Effectiveness

Identify HR-related risks and recommend practical, business-minded solutions.

Support the organization in areas such as policy consistency, documentation quality, investigations, terminations, and workforce
transitions.

Use HR metrics and reporting to inform decisions on hiring, turnover, engagement, performance, and organizational health.

Build HR processes that are scalable, efficient, and suited to a multi-company environment.
What Success Looks Like
In the first 12 months, the successful candidate will:
- Establish a more unified HR framework across the group of companies.
- Improve hiring quality, speed, and consistency.
- Strengthen manager capability and accountability.
- Increase confidence in HR processes, policies, and compliance.
- Build the foundation for a stronger leadership bench and more scalable people practices.
Qualifications

7+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least several years in a senior HR leadership role.

Demonstrated success supporting multi-site, fast-growing organizations. Supporting multi-entity organizations is a strong asset.

Strong knowledge of Canadian employment law and HR best practices; exposure to U.S. employment practices is a strong asset.

Proven ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a hands-on leadership role.

Strong experience in employee relations, leadership coaching, performance management, talent acquisition, and policy development.

Experience in regulated, safety-sensitive, operational, healthcare, occupational health, industrial, or training-focused environments is
strongly preferred.

CPHR designation or equivalent is an asset.
