Part-Time Grade 8-9 Science Teacher
About the role
Newbridge Academy is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Grade 8–9 Science Teacher to join our team for the upcoming school year.
We are a small, bilingual independent school in South Surrey committed to providing students with a supportive learning environment and high-quality academics. Our small class sizes allow teachers to build strong relationships with students and deliver engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences. This is an exciting opportunity to help build and shape our growing middle school program from the ground up.
Position Details
- Schedule: 8:30-11:30 Monday, Wednesday, Friday
- Hours: **9 **hours per week
- Compensation: $30–35/hour , depending on qualifications and experience
- Start Date: September 2026
Responsibilities
- Teach Science to a combined Grade 8–9 class following the British Columbia curriculum.
- Plan and deliver engaging, hands-on lessons that foster scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Assess student progress, write report card comments, and communicate regularly with parents regarding student learning and development.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning and student success.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Education or equivalent teaching qualification is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of middle school science and the British Columbia curriculum.
- Experience teaching Grades 8–9 or middle school science is considered an asset.
- A creative, organized, and student-centred approach to teaching.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Eligibility to work in Canada.
