Who Are You?
The Production Supervisor plays a critical operational role at the facility level and is responsible for overseeing and executing daily production activities in alignment with the corporate production plan established by the Production Planning Manager. This includes supervising the production floor, coordinating resources, and ensuring timely execution of work orders while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
The Production Supervisor is responsible for implementing and monitoring production schedules, managing the performance of the production team, and collaborating with internal departments such as Planning, Engineering, Safety, and Supply Chain to meet production goals.
This role is a key operational link between strategic planning and execution and supports Weldco’s commitment to continuous improvement, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.
What Will You Do?
- Execute the production plan as communicated by the Production Planning Manager
- Ensure daily production activities align with facility capacity, staffing, and material availability
- Communicate with internal stakeholders (Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, etc.) to manage priorities and constraints
- Monitor progress of work orders to ensure on-time delivery and adherence to specifications
- Identify and resolve scheduling or resource issues promptly
- Develop and update the production schedule based on demand forecasts, inventory level, available capacity, and customer requirements
- Supervise production planning personnel, including training, coaching, scheduling, and performance management
- Provide feedback and mentorship to support employee development and succession planning
- Lead daily shift meetings to align staff on safety, quality, and production targets
- Monitor and control component and finished goods inventory levels in collaboration with Purchasing and Supply Chain
- Coordinate with vendors as needed
- Identify opportunities to optimize inventory turns and reduce obsolescence
- Review and update inventory policies to ensure they are current and effective
- Develop new policies that reduce costs and optimize inventory levels
- Coordinate yearly inventory count
- Ensure all customer orders are fulfilled in accordance with quality standards and delivery timelines
- Communicate regularly with Sales and Planning to manage customer expectations and resolve order-related issues
- Escalate risks to delivery or quality promptly to the Production Planning Manager

Post-secondary education in a related technical or production field required

Operations-related advanced degree and/or certifications preferred
-
3+ years of progressive experience in a production environment, preferably in heavy equipment or steel manufacturing

1–2 years of experience in a supervisory role

Understanding of production scheduling and workflow processes
-
Familiarity with safety standards and Lean manufacturing practices
-
Knowledge of ERP systems (preferably Business Central) and Microsoft Office
-
Strong leadership and communication skills
-
Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks under pressure

Skilled in motivating and developing team members
-
Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
-
Competency in analyzing production data and reporting

Self-motivated and disciplined
