About the role
Reports to: The Assistant Director in the Corporate Secretary’s Department
Location: Kuujjuaq or Montréal
Responsibilities :
-
Recruitment and Training of local Returning Officers;
-
Plan and organize voting events;
-
Maintain an up-to-date list of potential local returning officers;
-
Identify and maintain a list of suitable polling stations in all communities;
-
Create administrative processes that streamline the communication between Makivvik and Local organisations;
-
Review and modify on an as needed basis election related notices and announcements;
-
Prepare election kits;
-
Keep Nunavik beneficiaries up to date with up-coming elections, drafting election notices, providing radio updates, etc.;
-
Work with third-party service providers;
-
Track and maintain election related expenses, budget preparation;
-
Be available to travel, as requested;
-
Perform other related duties within the scope of the position or as requested by supervisor.
Qualifications:
-
High School Diploma or relevant work experience;
-
Effective communication skills in at least two (2) of the three (3) languages: Inuktitut, English and/or French;
-
Great computer skills : Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.);
-
Knowledge of the Makivvik Election process, is an asset;
-
Strong interpersonal skills;
-
Ability to be impartial;
-
Basic math and analytical skills;
-
Organized, reliable and able to deal with confidential information;
-
Ability to meet deadlines, ability to work under pressure;
-
Security clearance is required.
Training will be available for Beneficiaries in the advancement for their career.
