Position Summary
The Driver is responsible for operating and driving straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
Position Functions
- Operating and driving straight or articulate trucks to transport goods and materials
- Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
- Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights and brakes
- Cold storage and other equipment
- Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness
- Complete driver log book, inspection reports, accident/incident reports
- Production duties as assigned
Working Conditions
- Ability to work in hot & cold temperatures
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Direct Reports
- None
Core Competencies
- Ability to follow oral & written instructions
- Must be adaptable to a changing work environment and be able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
- Ability to work as a team player
- Sound knowledge of safe driving practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience hauling steel is considered an asset
- Driver’s License (Class 1 or A)
- Air brake (Z) Endorsement
- Commercial Vehicle Operator’s Registration (CVOR) Certificate
- Air Brake Adjustment Certificate
- Criminal record check, driving record check, medical exam, drug test
