Your role
CBC News is looking for an Analyst to join our CBC/Radio-Canada Finance team in Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon or Yellowknife. We are a 24-7 breaking news organization, with reach across television, radio, online, and mobile platforms.
The Analyst will be a key member of the CBC/Radio-Canada Finance team and be responsible for providing operational finance support to programming in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and the North. Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, this position will be responsible for handling all financial aspects (contracting, cost tracking, budgeting, analysis, and reporting) for our and other related groups.
This role is a hybrid work arrangement.
Key Tasks:
- Prepare both standard and non-standard freelance contracts and renewals in Livelink in accordance with the various collective agreements (including CMG, unaffiliated, WGC, ACTRA, CFM).
- Prepare, coordinate, track, and reconcile expenditures.
- Provide support and guidance with purchasing, e-plaza ordering, and employee reimbursements.
- Prepare and track budgets/cost estimates for special projects and programming initiatives.
- Prepare ad-hoc labour and monthly financial reports for review by Senior Manager, and for discussion with Managing Editors.
- Prepare month-end labour accruals for staff OT & TOIL and casual timecards.
- Assist with month end and year end closing procedures.
- Perform other related duties as required.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
- Accounting Diploma or Degree and/or relevant experience is required.
- At least 3 years of progressively responsible related experience.
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and decision-making capabilities
- Ability to set priorities and balance competing business needs within budgetary restrictions and reporting deadlines.
- Business partnering approach. An open and direct communication style, good listening skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working in a diverse and inclusive environment.
