About the role

Permanent Full Time

As a Lead Business Analyst within the Business Modernization team at Canada Life, you will play a critical role in analyzing business needs, defining requirements, authoring, grooming and refining user stories and optimizing decision automation frameworks for key business processes. You will work closely with stakeholders, technology teams and cross-functional partners to ensure business objectives are met efficiently and effectively. In this role, you must be comfortable working in an ambiguous and evolving environment, proactively identifying opportunities and bringing structure to complex challenges.

This position requires Reliability Status security clearance - this is a personnel security status that is required before an employee can gain access to Protected B information, assets or work sites as outlined by the Government of Canada website.

What you will do

  • Lead the gathering, analysis, and documentation of business requirements with a focus on Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) which involves, data ingestion, extraction, categorization and indexing, automating workflows and decision automation.
  • Author user stories and work with Technical Developers to groom, refine and prioritize into logical components based on estimates and time available
  • Define and document business rules, and decision logic to support automated processes.
  • Harvest and author rules for decision automation
  • Align & support our Workflow team on decisions & rules impacting our workflow solution
  • Collaborate with business and IT teams to ensure seamless integration of IDP, workflow and automation decisions
  • Evaluate existing processes and recommend enhancements, optimizations, and new automation opportunities
  • Conduct impact assessments & risk analysis for new automation opportunities
  • Support governance, compliance, and audit requirements for automated decision making.
  • Participate in Scrum ceremonies, lead user acceptance testing and business exploration of new solutions, support change acceptance, and support training & change management
  • Facilitate both remote and in-person working sessions with key stakeholders
  • Lead your work independently, creating project plans for your activities, communicating and meeting due dates
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to Senior Business Analysts.

What you will bring

  • Solid understanding and experience working with / in Agile Methodology
  • Solid understanding and experience working with IDP, Workflow (events, decisions, routing, assignment) and business rule automation
  • Skilled at building strong, collaborative relationships at all levels of an organization
  • Ability to communicate effectively, coach and support project teams
  • Excellent communication skills with experience creating and leading presentations to senior ship
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively gather process requirements, obtain approvals, build relationships and provide sufficient influence and negotiation skills to achieve success
  • Creative problem solver that can break down complex problems into meaningful parts to identify and integrate solution delivery
  • Ability to analyze complex data to determine appropriate course of action towards the objectives
  • Strong execution skills to support robust deployment of modernization and transformation opportunities in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to work with a high degree of independence, detail and accuracy in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize competing projects

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in business analysis, IDP, workflow and business rule automation, process improvement, or related roles.
  • Strong expertise in requirements gathering, business process modeling, and stakeholder management
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguous environments, working with incomplete information to drive clarity and actionable next steps.
  • Experience in financial services, insurance or investments is an asset.
  • Proficiency in business analysis tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Visio, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in agile environments
  • Experience in rules harvesting, rules authoring, decision automation, business rules management systems, and rules-based decisioning frameworks is an asset
  • Financial services, insurance business or investments knowledge is an asset

The base salary for this position is between $63,500.00 - $117,400.00 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
