Position Purpose
Responsible for performing all services necessary, in accordance with Town and Provincial standards/ regulations, for the maintenance, operation and overall appearance of the Town facilities including arenas, pool and other facilities. For full details, please see attached job description.
Minimum Qualifications

Completion of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent

Completion of Basic Refrigeration ¿ Level 1
-
Additional education/training in pool/spa operations, including a Pool Operator's Certificate (or willing to obtain within first 3 months of employment)

Current Certification in Basic First Aid and CPR
-
Minimum of one (1) year's previous related experience, including inside/outside maintenance, coupled with one year in a public sector environment, preferably in facilities operation

A Valid Class G driver's license
-
Driver's Abstract in good standing to operate Corporation vehicles.

Police Vulnerable Sector Check results deemed as satisfactory by the Town.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Summary
Responsible for performing all services necessary, in accordance with Town and Provincial standards/ regulations, for the maintenance, operation and overall appearance of the Town facilities including arenas, pool and other facilities.
Responsibilities
- Complete daily operational and safety checks, and maintains as necessary: refrigeration plant and related equipment, heating system, water heaters, fire extinguishers, interior and emergency exit lights, freezers and appliances, and P.A. system
- Maintain ice surface and surrounding area including: installation preparation, edging, scraping and flooding prior to scheduled usage, ice surface boards and glass, paint lines, goal lights, switches, sports timer and nets, and assisting with ice making and removal
- Complete operational log of refrigeration plant at two (2) hour intervals
- Maintain interior and exterior of facility including painting, removal of debris from grounds and eaves troughs and flag replacement
- Receive and deposit revenues from ice rentals, gate and concession booth sales
- Assist with special events as requested and tends to snack bar as required
- Operate and monitor pool filtration equipment and all amusement devices within the facility, including the maintenance of pool chemical balance to Provincial standards
- Perform regular backwashing and vacuuming of pool, including cleaning of pool tanks, tank walls, deck, slide and other areas as necessary
- Inspect and perform preventative maintenance to pool filtration/chemical balance equipment and all amusement devices, on a regular basis
- Maintain facility, chemical, bather tally and equipment logs in accordance with Provincial legislation/regulations and Town policies and procedures
- Clean snow, ice and debris from sidewalk and fire exits as required
- Provide minor plumbing, electrical and mechanical repairs and renovations/carpentry to facilities and equipment as necessary
- In the absence of the Supervisor, and when directed, schedule/monitor and logs the work performed by outside contractors ensuring repairs to equipment are completed satisfactorily and in a timely manner
- Clean and stock facility change rooms/washrooms, with all necessary toiletries and amenities on a daily basis
- Perform janitorial/maintenance duties, in accordance with the Public Health Act and Town policies, including sweeping seating area, cleaning/disinfecting pool decks, corridors and dressing/change rooms after each scheduled use; clean/vacuum floors, carpets, wall, doors and ceilings as required; clean entrance and interior windows daily as required; garbage and recycling collection as necessary
- Receive and signs for authorized supplies
- Complete purchase requisitions/proposals as required/requested and submits to the Facility Supervisor or designate for approval
- Responds to inquiries from the general public, community groups and program participants related to facility operations
- Participate in the Town's Health & Safety Program; complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, other applicable legislation and best practices
- Maintain knowledge of and adheres to all Town of Georgina Policies and Procedures
- Participate in ongoing Training and Development and ensures all mandatory requirements are met and maintained.
