Koch Fertilizer Canada’s Brandon, Manitoba nitrogen complex is seeking a Rotating Equipment Specialist to strengthen the safety, reliability, and availability of critical rotating assets. This is a field-oriented technical role supporting maintenance, reliability and operation team for rotating assets across the ammonia, nitric acid, urea, UAN, and ANS production units.
Our Team
This role will work alongside Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Engineering, Corporate SMEs and external service providers to diagnose equipment problems, define fit for purpose corrective actions, and verify machinery performance following maintenance or repair while applying Principle Based Management® and the Rotating Equipment Mechanical Integrity Program.
What You Will Do
Apply Zero-SIF principles, approved procedures, and the KAES Rotating Equipment Mechanical Integrity Program while identifying and resolving machinery hazards, unsafe conditions, and technical scope gaps. Troubleshoot compressors, steam turbines, pumps, blowers, gearboxes, and auxiliary systems using operating history, field observations, condition-monitoring data, and equipment performance trends. Provide technical field leadership for precision maintenance, overhauls, inspections, measurements, QA/QC, ITPs, startups, shutdowns, trips, plant upsets/ outages, and post-repair return to service. Lead or provide root-cause failure analyses, incident investigations, reliability improvements, and updates to maintenance strategies, inspection requirements, and equipment records. Analyze vibration, lube oil-analysis, operating, startup, and shutdown data to proactively diagnose developing faults, assess risk, and recommend suitable corrective actions Develop technical content for CMMS work orders, turnaround scopes, repair requirements, quality hold points, acceptance criteria, and lead follow-up actions. Partner with OEMs, repair shops, field-service providers, Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Corporate SMEs and Engineering to manage repair quality, documentation, equipment readiness and new equipment installation/ projects.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
Interprovincial (Red Seal) Millwright or Machinist certification, OR a technical diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related discipline. Experience maintaining, inspecting, and troubleshooting rotating equipment in an industrial or process environment such as fertilizer, petrochemical, refining, power, or a similar operation. Extensive experience with precision-maintenance practices including shaft alignment, balancing, bearings, seals, and couplings. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, OEM manuals, and equipment specifications. Legally entitled to work in Canada without current or future sponsorship.
What Will Put You Ahead
Extensive experience with critical or un-spared machinery, including centrifugal and reciprocating compressors and steam turbines. Familiarity with rotating equipment API standards for pumps, compressors, and reciprocating machinery, including design and repair practices. Experience with a CMMS (Maximo or SAP preferred) and condition-monitoring or asset-health platforms. Vibration-analysis certification (ISO Category I/II or equivalent) and hands-on condition-monitoring experience Experience in an ammonia or nitrogen fertilizer facility, or another Process Safety Management-covered site. Formal Reliability Certification or root-cause failure analysis methodology experience.
