About the team

The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation Disability Services team provides day-to-day administration for the Teachers’ Long Term Disability Plan and rehabilitation back-to-work services to teachers.

What you’ll do

The Disability Payroll Specialist works in a sensitive, empathetic and confidential manner as part of a team in the day-to-day administration of Teachers’ Long-Term Disability Plan (LTD) claims. This position prepares and processes benefit calculations and correspondence for new claims and provides accurate information and technical explanations related to plan provisions to members of the plan. This position is also responsible for preparing and reconciling the monthly disability benefit payroll and pension remittance, and other regulatory reports.

What you’ll bring

  • 2-4 years of post-secondary education with 2-3 years of related benefit administration experience, preferably in disability claims administration. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • Knowledge of payroll and benefit best practices and systems as well as demonstrated initiative in undertaking assignments and completing work within strict timelines is a definite requirement.
  • Established analytical and mathematical skills, including knowledge of benefit calculations, pension service and earnings concepts.
  • Critical thinking skills, with an ability to analyze and interpret complex information and reports.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and meet competing deadlines while working in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated computer skills including proficiency in Word and Excel.
  • Effective client service, interpersonal and public relations skills.
  • Established communication skills.
  • Commitment to information accuracy, completeness and confidentiality in work.
  • A good working knowledge of office procedures and practices.

  • A competitive salary range of $59,676.39 - $77,592.69.
