We are seeking an exceptional Primary Visual Arts Teacher to join our Wentworth Campus (Junior Kindergarten to Grade 7). This is an opportunity to join a collaborative and innovative Arts team where creativity is celebrated and students are empowered to take risks and develop their artistic voice. If you are passionate about fostering a lifelong appreciation of the arts we'd love to hear from you! This is a Temporary Contract 0.6 FTE position from August 28, 2026 to June 30, 2027. Responsibilities Co-design and deliver a curriculum that meets the needs of the individual students and the Ministry requirements Establish a respectful and safe learning environment Collaborate with other members of faculty to create innovative lessons and units that include experiential learning Attend regular Professional Development to strengthen and inform teaching practice both locally and internationally Maintain confidentiality of all information related to Collingwood School, the students, their families, and staff Required qualifications Undergraduate Degree, preferably in Visual Arts A passion for visual arts and experience teaching Art at an elementary level (Junior Kindergarten through Grade 7) Enthusiastic, energetic and creative person who understands needs of elementary students and is willing to work as a member of a creative and enthusiastic arts team Excellent management, organizational, interpersonal and relationship skills Creative flexibility and ability to work in a student-centered environment Ability to build collaborative and effective relationships with students, staff, parents and the community Certified (or in the process of becoming certified) by the British Columbia Ministry of Education Teacher Regulation Branch Basic First Aid Legally entitled to work in Canada Our “Must Haves” Respect, dignity and inclusion for all members of the community Collaborative mind-set and courageous approach to adversity Demonstrated communications skills (oral and written) Creative “out-of-the-box” thinker Flexible and adaptable and embraces change Proven work ethic with utmost integrity Enthusiasm, eagerness and genuine interest in all aspects of the school’s success Self-awareness, with a desire for constant self improvement (goal-oriented) We offer professional development opportunities, competitive salaries, a generous benefits package, including health and dental coverage, Personal Days, access to an Employee and Family Assistance Plan, and access to a Health Spending Account, health and wellness initiatives, along with one of the most beautiful locations in Canada to work!
