We are seeking a Senior Estimator to join our workforce housing team in Calgary. This role is responsible for leading all design-build and fixed price bids. This position oversees both internal and external resources across multiple concurrent bids and is accountable for ensuring proposals are delivered with accuracy, timeliness, and competitive pricing. Responsibilities include proposal development, cost estimation, and coordination to meet project and client expectations.
This is a full-time, permanent, in -office position based in Calgary, Alberta. This role reports to the Senior Manager, Major Projects & PMC.
Job Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all aspects of the bidding process for construction projects, including developing responses to client-issued RFPs and proposing design-build solutions that align with client needs and expectations.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment and accountability across departments.
- Prepare and present detailed cost estimates, scopes of work, and support documentation for executive review.
- Analyze bid packages and coordinate pricing requests with vendors and subcontractors.
- Strategically allocate resources and manage timelines for each major bid.
- Mentor and oversee Junior Estimators, fostering skill development and team growth.
- Ensure quality expectations are met in all project proposals and installations.
- Other tasks as assigned
Job Qualifications:
- A Red Seal Trade Certification and a Technology Diploma in a construction-related field, or post-secondary education in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- 7-10 years’ experience in commercial, industrial, and institutional estimating roles.
- Proven leadership experience in estimating or construction project bidding.
- Familiarity with Lump Sum tendering, construction management, and design-build delivery models.
- Ability to build and maintain cost databases and analyze historical project data.
- Experience utilizing digital takeoff tools such as Revu, Autodesk/Revit
- Skilled in stakeholder engagement, including vendors, consultants, and internal teams.
- Familiarity with Master Format and cost division structures.
- Advanced Excel skills, including version control and audit tracking.
- Strong analytical, time management, and organizational abilities.
