POSITION SUMMARY: The City of Nelson is seeking a strategic and experienced Manager of Information Technology and GIS to lead the planning, development, and operation of the City's technology and geographic information systems.
Reporting to the Director of Finance and Information Technology, this position is responsible for providing leadership and oversight of IT infrastructure, enterprise systems, cybersecurity, and GIS services across the organization . The Manager plays a key role in advancing technology initiatives that support municipal operations, enhance service delivery, and enable data-driven decision-making.
This role oversees day-to-day IT and GIS operations while guiding long-term strategy, ensuring the reliability, security, and effectiveness of systems, networks, and data management practices.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, GIS, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum five (5) years of experience in IT systems and infrastructure.

Minimum five (5) years of progressive leadership or management experience.

Experience managing complex technology projects and enterprise systems.
-
Experience with GIS platforms (e.g., ESRI ArcGIS) is considered an asset.

Experience in a municipal or public sector environment is an asset.
COMPENSATION:$99 ,900 - $111,000
**HOURS:**Regular Full-Time I 37.5 hours per week
**DAYS:**Monday - Friday
