GCT is the operator of the largest container terminal in the country and one of the largest employers in the maritime sector. Key Responsibilities
The Senior Business Analyst’s role is to devise and design business process requirements for all business and operations systems critical to core organizational functions. This includes researching and analyzing data in support of business functions, process knowledge, and systems requirements. The Senior Business Analyst is also responsible for proactively generating and compiling reports based on findings, complete with recommended improvements to business processes and operational procedures. This individual will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help maximize the benefit of business assets and to assist in implementing new processes and procedures.

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Working together with internal and external business stakeholders, solution providers with respect to business, financial, and operations requirements and systems goals related to organizational needs and existing processes:
    • Understanding and identifying
    • Analyzing
    • Validating
  • Develop, define, document, and deliver together with associated stakeholder:
    • Strategies for improvements and leveraging processes
    • Benchmarks, impacts, targets and goals
    • New processes, procedures and models
    • Planning, process mapping and workflow
    • Business cases and RFPs
    • Assist in researching soft and hardware products
    • Standards and metrics and performance criteria
    • Requirements and scope
    • Operational procedures
    • Budgets and timelines for changes
    • Related presentations
    • Testing criteria and use cases
    • Post implementation reviews
  • Use advanced analytical methods to help make optimal solutions to complex decision-making problems.
  • Communicate process changes, enhancements, and modifications – verbally or through written documentation – to management, peers, staff, and other employees so that issues and solutions are understood.
  • Liaise with various business groups in the organization to facilitate implementation of new or improved business processes.
  • Serve as an expert in total information flow and key applications within area of focus.
  • Coach employees in the understanding and application of process improvement methodologies and help foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Provide 3rd level support as required.

Requirements
Education & Experience
The ideal candidate is a data-driven decision maker and creative problem solver with the ability to challenge the status quo and think outside the box.

  • Post-Secondary diploma or degree in the field of business administration, computer science, finance, or management information systems and 5-8 years of related work experience.
  • Experience in application of process-improvement methodologies and a proven track record delivering significant business performance improvements.
  • Proven experience with business and technical requirements analysis, business process modeling and mapping, methodology development, and data modeling.
  • Advanced Operational Research skills
  • Experience overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products.
  • Proven experience in the operation and analysis of database hardware, software, and standards, as well as data retrieval methodologies and mainframe applications.
  • Extensive practical knowledge in importing data for use in report software, spreadsheets, graphs, and flowcharts.
  • Ability to create systematic and manual operations procedures in both technical and user-friendly language.
  • Ability to apply statistical and other research methods into systems issues and products as required.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and project management software skills
  • Excellent understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Terminal Operations experience is a strong asset and takes precedence over other qualifications.
  • Subject matter expert in two or more of the of the following areas is strongly preferred.
    • Navis – N4 / XPS (Gate / Rail / Vessel / Yard)
    • Inform Rail Scheduler
    • ABB OCR / X-Clerk
    • ABB XJD / Crane Control / QuayPro
  • Experience with other core GCT software applications would be extremely beneficial.

Salary Band

  • $104,952 - $157,416
