Rate: $58.42 - $74.90 Hourly
Unit Summary
The Regional Neuroscience and Trauma Program provides care for patients with neurological disorders through the utilization of advanced monitoring and treatment procedures. The Neuroscience patient population requires inpatient and outpatient clinical nursing expertise to support their continuum of care needs and monitor outcomes. Program development, research and education are significant requirements of the nursing role to support future development, scientific inquiry and evidence informed practice across this patient population's continuum of care.
Position Summary
The Nurse Practitioner (Adult) will provide focused, holistic clinical care in the inpatient and outpatient settings to patients with neurological conditions with causes that vary from traumatic injuries, vascular disorders to infections and tumors (brain and spine). These patients require monitoring techniques and /or neurological treatments. The NP will play a significant role in program development, research, education and consultation. Additional accountabilities may be negotiated with NP and program leadership as this program develops.
Schedule Work Hours
Monday to Friday; days
Qualifications
- Current Certification of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse, Extended Class with Nurse Practitioner (Adult)
- Masters Degree in Nursing and/or equivalent graduate Degree
- Minimum of five (5) years recent clinical experience supporting a population of acute neuroscience patients
- Demonstrated experience in research and program development
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and competency to work within interprofessional teams
- Demonstrated leadership and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated ability to promote professional development in nursing
- Eligible for Faculty appointment with McMaster University
Proficiency in both Official Languages would be an asset.
