Position Purpose
Instructors are responsible for teaching participants of all ages¿from preschoolers to older adults¿the fundamental skills of cooking or baking, including safe use of kitchen tools and equipment. They will deliver engaging, hands-on lessons that support each participant's physical, social, and emotional development, in alignment with the Town of
Georgina's standards. The primary goal of this role is to provide a high-quality program focused on proper culinary techniques, kitchen safety, and food preparation methods. For full details, please see attached job description.
Minimum Qualifications

Previous experience and knowledge in a cooking/baking related setting is required
-
Knowledgeable of the mechanics of cooking/baking including but not limited to various styles of cuisine, use of different appliances and cooking/baking apparatus.

Previous experience instructing programs or coaching is considered an asset

Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings and holidays (Christmas Break, Family Day weekend and March Break).

Current Food Handler's Certificate

Provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check deemed satisfactory by the Town of Georgina.

Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level ¿C¿ certificate.

PRIMARY FUNCTION**:**

WORKING PROCEDURES**:**

Plan and deliver cooking and/or baking instruction for children, youth, adults and/or older adults

Deliver enjoyable, structured and well-planned culinary projects/activities

Explain, demonstrate and develop various culinary techniques and methods for all ages.

Provide an opportunity for participants to showcase and develop their skills throughout the duration of the program.

Meet the needs of each participant and ensure adequate safety while facilitating the program.
-
Take attendance, handle inquiries, manage participants, and ensure policies and procedures are enforced when/where necessary.
-
Demonstrates a high level of customer service and provides this service on the front-line of operation and does so in an efficient, courteous and respectful manner.

Participate in the Town's Health and Safety Program and follow safety practices in work methods and procedures; observes and complies with all relevant Health & Safety regulations.

Immediately report all concerns (including product), suspicious occurrences and hazardous conditions to the Recreation Services Supervisor or designate.

SKILL/KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS**:**
- Previous experience and knowledge in a cooking/baking related setting is required

- Previous experience instructing programs or coaching is considered an asset
- Confident in teaching large groups in a classroom setting
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Willingness to work with others and responding constructively to feedback
- Previous administrative and customer service experience is considered and asset
- Responsible, courteous, good communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently without close supervision
- Effective conflict resolution, problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Excellent customer service skills to deal effectively with the public, participants, parents or guardians.
