Hammond Power Solutions Inc. is a global manufacturer headquartered in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. For the past century, HPS has grown to deliver electrical power solutions to global markets and provides solutions for complex applications like, mining, rectifier, drives, traction, wind, solar and many other electrical power applications. The world relies on HPS to continually conceive and produce state-of-the-art transformer technology. We currently have an opening for a Material Handler at our Walkerton Manufacturing location, come grow with us!

To support the production departments (control, distribution, reactor and potted assembly) by supplying transformer coils as required by production loads.

Key Activities:

• Moving received goods (bulk) to correct final inventory locations following FIFO

• Transferring received materials to internal kitting department for put-away following FIFO

• Transferring large inventory items from bulk inventory locations to kitting department or material manufacturing areas (i.e. core steel, coils of steel, potting compounds, varnish compounds and wire etc.) following FIFO

• Provide cycle counts of inventoried parts as required

• Assist in annual physical inventory analysis (usually in November)

• Inspect incoming goods to ensure they are damage free and correct. If not possible refusal of shipment may be required

• Unload or assist the unloading of all incoming materials or items and label before putting away

   

  Back-up shippers for vacations & absenteeism. This may include;

• Inspect finished goods brought to the shipping department in preparation for shipment

• Apply additional packaging as per packaging SPI’s as required to all items to be shipped

• Load completed items onto appropriate truck or in designated area for courier pick-up

• If shipments going via courier, complete appropriate paperwork and labels

Work with internal department(s) and purchasing to perform periodic cycle counts as required

Specialized Training

• Basic electrical theory

• Hoist and fork lift training and certificates

• Previous manufacturing experience an asset

Knowledge of both the metric and imperial measurement systems required

Qualifications:

• High School (Grade 12)
• 1 to 2 years in a manufacturing environment in a shipping/receiving or material handling role
• Education in Manufacturing or Electrical Principals would be an asset
