Job Title: Business System Analyst, Intermediate
Please note: Candidates must be able to work in-office a minimum of 3 days per week and up to 5 days per week in Guelph, ON.
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Business System Analyst to bridge business requirements and technical data solutions. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders and IT teams to analyze business needs, define system and data requirements, and support the design and delivery of data and analytics solutions.
Responsibility
- Analyze business needs and translate them into functional, system, and data requirements that support analytics and reporting solutions
- Evaluate existing systems, data flows, and integrations to identify gaps, risks, and optimization opportunities
- Collaborate closely with business stakeholders and IT teams to ensure solutions align with business objectives and technical standards
- Support the design and delivery of data and analytics solutions, including system integrations, data pipelines, and reporting platforms
- Maintain system and data documentation, including requirements, data mappings, process flows, and technical specifications
- Support testing activities, including system testing and user acceptance testing, to ensure requirements are met
- Troubleshoot system and data ‑ related issues, performing root cause analysis and coordinating resolution with technical teams
- Support data ingestion, transformation, and validation activities in Microsoft Fabric
- Develop and maintain SQL queries to support reporting and analytics needs
- Assist in maintaining data models used for analytics and Power BI
- Support Power BI datasets and reports, ensuring data accuracy and consistency Work with data engineers to ensure proper data governance and quality standards
Academic/Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
Required Skills/Experience
- Must have a minimum of 4+ years prior experience as a System or Business Analyst with strong understanding of system analysis concepts and data flows.
- Candidates must have proven experience with the following:

Machine Learning Engineering – building, training, testing, and deploying models for advanced use cases

Strong mathematical foundation – statistics, linear algebra, calculus, and computer science

Data Science – data analysis, tooling, and applied methodologies
-
Pro or low-code application development – Power Platform and/or a professional development stack

Power BI & Fabric
Working knowledge of SQL and data warehouse concepts

- E xperience with leading initiatives in AI-related domains such as machine learning and deep learning within applications.
- Experience supporting analytics or reporting solutions (Power BI preferred)
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and documentation skills
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non technical stakeholders
- System analysis and requirements mapping
- Business process analysis and documentation
- SQL querying and data validation
- Stakeholder engagement and communication
- Functional and technical documentation
- Troubleshooting and root cause analysis
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, pipelines, data models)
- Familiarity with Power BI datasets, reports, and basic DAX
- Understanding of ETL / data integration concepts Knowledge of data governance and data quality best practices
