FMC is a development company specializing in single and multi-family home construction.

We are looking for a Junior Finance Controller to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Controller to join our finance team. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who is hands-on with QuickBooks Online Canada and has experience working with integrated financial systems. The Junior Controller will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, managing day-to-day accounting functions, and supporting process improvements that enhance efficiency and scalability.

The required hours are 40 hours per week, 5 days per week. Job flexibility, diversity and direct training resulting in growth opportunities is a perk in this position.

Job Specific Duties:

· Manage daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll entries, and bank reconciliations.

· Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Canadian accounting standards (ASPE or IFRS, as applicable).

· Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

· Oversee cash flow management, expense tracking, and budgeting processes.

· Support external audits, tax filings, and compliance requirements specific to British Columbia and Canadian regulations.

· Utilize QuickBooks Online Canada to manage accounting functions, generate reports, and optimize workflows.

· Work with integrated systems (e.g., POS, CRM, inventory management, payment processors, payroll platforms) to ensure accurate and timely data flow into the accounting system.

· Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen internal controls and enhance efficiency.

· Provide financial analysis to support management decision-making.

· Assist and prepare project and company forecasting, variance analysis, and strategic planning initiatives.

Required Skills and Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA designation or in-progress preferred).

· 2–4 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, preferably in Canada.

· Strong hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online Canada, including reporting and multi-user functionality.

· Experience working with integrated systems (POS, payroll, inventory, CRM, or other financial platforms).

· Knowledge of Canadian GAAP (ASPE/IFRS) and provincial requirements.

· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with other reporting tools.

· Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

· Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

· Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams.
