About the role
Job Overview We are seeking a professional, organized, and compassionate Medical Office Assistant to join our family practice clinic team. The ideal candidate will provide administrative and clinical support to the family physician while ensuring excellent patient care and smooth daily clinic operations.
Responsibilities
- Greet and assist patients in a professional and friendly manner
- Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments
- Answer phone calls, emails, and patient inquiries
- Register patients and maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR)
- Prepare examination rooms and assist physicians as needed
- Obtain and document patient information, medical history, and vital signs when required
- Process referrals, requisitions, prescriptions, and medical forms
- Coordinate communication with specialists, pharmacies, laboratories, and other healthcare providers
- Manage billing, insurance forms, and administrative paperwork
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with clinic policies and privacy regulations
- Ensure the clinic environment remains clean, organized, and efficient
- Assist with inventory management and ordering medical/office supplies
Qualifications
- Medical Office Assistant diploma or related healthcare administrative education preferred
- Previous experience in a medical clinic or family practice setting is an asset
- Knowledge of EMR systems (Oscar EMR experience is an asset)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Professional, compassionate, and patient-focused attitude
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills
- Experience with medical terminology, referrals, and billing is an asset
- CPR certification is an asset
Schedule Requirements
- Availability for evening shifts is required (3:00 PM ? 8:00 PM)
- Availability to work Saturdays (8:00 AM ? 2:00 PM)
- One week off every month
- Flexible scheduling may be required based on clinic needs
Pay: From $26.00 per hour
