Our Platform Modernization Organization drives the lifecycle management and continuous modernization of compute, database, storage, and network infrastructure. Your Impact:
We are seeking a strategic Senior Manager, Platform Modernization to lead a team of principal technical specialists and subject matter experts (SMEs) in transforming legacy platforms, including aging hardware, End of Support Life (EOSL) operating systems, and legacy applications. The role focuses on driving high-level modernization strategies for on-premises and hybrid environments, ensuring alignment with business objectives, operational efficiency, and reduced technical debt. The Senior Manager will foster innovation, and ensure seamless execution of modernization initiatives while maintaining compliance and minimizing risks.
As Senior Manager, Platform Modernization, you will:
- Define and lead platform modernization strategy, focusing on upgrading legacy hardware, EOSL operating systems, and applications across on-premises and hybrid environments.
- Manage and mentor principal technical specialists and SMEs, driving assessment, planning, and execution of modernization initiatives.
- Oversee large-scale programs, coordinating cross-functional teams to modernize infrastructure with minimal disruption and optimized cost.
- Implement lifecycle heatmaps and strategic roadmaps to assess obsolescence risks and prioritize modernization across compute, storage, network, and applications.
- Collaborate with business units and vendors to align technical modernization efforts with organizational goals and business value.
- Ensure compliance and risk mitigation, adhering to security standards and regulatory requirements during legacy infrastructure upgrades.
- Champion innovation, guiding teams in evaluating and integrating emerging technologies like hyper-converged infrastructure and serverless computing.
- Manage budgets and resources, including vendor negotiations and reporting on ROI, risks, and progress to executive leadership.
What you need to succeed:
- 10+ years in IT, including 5+ years managing teams in platform modernization or infrastructure delivery and operations.
- Led enterprise-wide modernization programs for legacy hardware, EOSL operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Linux, Solaris), and applications.
- Deep understanding of legacy infrastructure, including servers, storage arrays, and network switches, and modernization approaches like microservices and containerization.
- Oversaw lifecycle management and roadmap development, driving strategic modernization initiatives.
- Experienced in hybrid and on-premises environments, virtualization, and modern architectural patterns.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills, guiding principal technical specialists and SMEs in dynamic, cross-functional settings.
- Effective communicator, able to translate strategic modernization plans for executives and stakeholders.
- Certifications such as ITIL, PMP, or Leadership credentials are considered assets.
