We are seeking a strategic, community-focused Manager, Community Planning to join our Indigenous Services team. This diverse team of professionals are dedicated to exceeding clients’ unique needs within a rapidly evolving business and governance landscape. MNP is a leading national accounting, tax and business consulting firm for Indigenous Nations, businesses, and entrepreneurs in Canada. With more than 270 Indigenous clients and 300 team members dedicated to this sector, no other firm has invested as much time and resources into serving the unique needs of Indigenous communities. As a trusted advisor, you’ll provide expertise to empower Indigenous communities, organizations, businesses and individuals in navigating a dynamic social, political and economic environment.
You’ll bring a blend of technical planning knowledge, qualitative research skills, and project management expertise to help shape sustainable, community-driven development. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful work that integrates land, culture, and long-term visioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the proposal and delivery of consulting engagements with a focus on planning services in the Indigenous sector such as capital plans, land/traditional use studies, financial analysis and Comprehensive Community Plans (CCP)
- Collaborate with Indigenous partners to develop planning frameworks that reflect community priorities.
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative research, including socio-economic, environmental, regulatory and financial analysis
- Manage engagement planning and scheduling as well as project financials
- Identify innovative ways to deliver added value to clients; ensure needs are met and relationships grow and develop
- Review, design and develop high-quality deliverables including reports, presentations and other correspondence
- Maintain high quality control and apply specialized knowledge to anticipate, identify and address issues or key risks relevant to the client’s business
- Network in the local business community, consider business development opportunities and lead the preparation and delivery of competitive proposals to meet client needs
- Mentor, motivate and coach team members towards professional and personal development by setting clear expectations and providing clear feedback
- Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary
Skills and Experience
- Degree in Urban/Regional/Rural Planning, Indigenous Studies, Geography, Environmental Studies, or a related field
- 7+ years of experience in community planning, ideally with Indigenous communities
- Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Experience with qualitative research, financial analysis and community-based engagement
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and presentation development
- Experience in consulting or a strong interest in consulting work
- Deep understanding of Indigenous governance and planning contexts an asset
