What You Will Do:
- Lead environmental soil management programs for company operations in Ontario and Quebec.
- Provide broad knowledge, experience and practical skills in soil and groundwater management including environmental site assessments, risk assessments, and remedial activities and the application of excess soil management fundamentals for both small and large infrastructure projects.
- Provide timely response and expertise as the primary point of contact for environmental soil management related inquiries and support environmental events and inquiries from across the organization.
- Develop scopes of work, review and interpret environmental results and provide sound environmental advice and recommendations.
- Be aware of and knowledgeable on new/updated legislative requirements and develop processes and procedures for implementation; continually strive to improve and optimize operational procedures for effective implementation and compliance.
- Facilitate, participate and lead meetings partners to discuss environmental projects, develop strategies and resolve issues
- Lead, coordinate and actively promote environmental protection programs including developing and delivering presentations, training courses, and information sessions.
- Maintain company’s Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority (RPRA) Excess Soil Registry in good standing, complete project registrations and all administrative aspects of Excess Soil Registry.
- Manage and administer company’s Excess Soil Tracking applications, including user support, training and maintenance.
Who You Are:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or engineering.
- You possess a professional designation in the environmental field (P.Eng., P.Geo., EP), preferably meeting the requirements of a “Qualified Professional” for Excess Soil Management in Ontario.
- You have 5+ years of experience in environmental engineering/science experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of provincial and federal environmental legislation, with specific knowledge and experience applying the Ontario Environmental Protection Act, Ontario Water Resources Act, O.Reg. 406/19: On-Site and Excess Soil Management Regulation, and O.Reg. 153/04: Records of Site Condition – Part XV.1 Of the Act.
- Experience implementing Environment Management Systems objectives and requirements.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively and connect to a wide audience of internal and external partners.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills applied in project team environment.
Working Conditions:
- Typical office environment with occasional travel to project sites and other office locations (approx. 10% of time).
- Capability and availability to assist in environmental emergency situations including after-hours requests, when required.
