Your Impact:

We are seeking a Staff Accountant for our Colllingwood office. As part of our Finance team, you will be responsible for leading accounting employees, guiding tasks and ensuring accuracy and efficiency in daily accounting operations.

How you will contribute to the team:

  • Understand how routine financial transactions – such as processing invoices, billing, client payments, payroll, and expense transactions – impact accounting records.
  • Oversee general ledger account reconciliations monthly for accuracy of financial data.
  • Provide back up for processing invoices, billing, outstanding receivables, and payroll.
  • Provide approvals for daily operational tasks, such as approvals for credit memos, accounts payable invoicing and receivables.
  • Troubleshoot, resolve discrepancies and educate the finance team to mitigate errors at the source of financial transactions.
  • Support digital transformation initiatives to streamline financial processes.
  • Review, analyze and develop efficient processes for daily operational tasks.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to the finance team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

What you bring:

  • Post-secondary education in Finance, Accounting, Business or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in finance, with at least one (1) year in a supervisory role considered an asset.
  • Experience within engineering consulting or professional services industry is considered an asset.
  • Sound working knowledge of accounting principles, revenue recognition, and financial reporting.
  • Familiarity with implementing digital transformation initiatives.
  • Strong proficiency in using financial software and database management tools.
  • Understanding and experience with payroll and reconciliation.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency, including pivot tables, formulas, and data manipulation, is a strong advantage.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Previous experience in team management and fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
