Working closely with the VP of Finance, the Director, finance & Reporting is responsible for providing executive level and cross-functional support for all accounting needs of the business, coordinating monthly and annual close processes for the consolidated Sym-Tech entities and providing technical accounting guidance throughout the organization.
This individual will own financial analysis, and develop forecasts and financial plans on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. This role incorporates a combination of financial reporting, business modeling, and creative thinking to develop efficient processes while supporting internal stakeholders to ensure that corporate business objectives and financial results are met.
The successful candidate must be a self-starter, fast learner and capable of working with limited direction while taking full ownership of their areas of responsibility.
This position has two direct reports, with overall responsibility for Financial Reporting, FP&A and OEM Accounting.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reporting for the Company. Analyze and prepare monthly Dashboards on balance sheet, income statements, financial position forecasts and capital expenditure budgets
- Support the VP, Finance to navigate accounting and control issues and technical accounting adoption by coordinating the completion of documentation to support assessments for sharing with management and auditors
- Act as primary liaison between the OEM partners for all quarterly, interim and year-end financials, while also being the subject matter expert on changes needed as a result of accounting standard updates
- Working with Corporate Finance team to manage month-end and year-end close processes as well as reconciliation activities, including GL reconciliation, journal entries and related reports
- Provides technical accounting GAAP guidance and supports M&A due diligence & onboarding
- Review monthly, quarterly and annual reporting and make recommendations using high-level quantitative skills/tools to ensure that senior leadership can draw accurate conclusions
- Develop, monitor and interpret key operating metrics and trends; effectively communicate key business insights to management and business partners
- Drive the corporate budgeting process including updating forecasts and maintaining projection models. Review actual versus projection and communicate with operational business leaders to provide financial insight into performance and variance analysis
- Manage relationships with external auditors and financial institutions, as required, including overseeing any auditing conducted by third parties to ensure effective resolution and swift closure of auditing activities
- Identify and monitor legislation, regulations, business/industry trends, and scan competitive landscape to keep company ahead of industry trends
- Actively participate, make recommendations and provide analysis on the execution of the strategic plan and initiatives
- Enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results
- Ensures that all activities are conducted in compliance with Amynta and Sym-Tech policies and procedures
- Completes project work as required and participates in all reasonable work activities as may be deemed suitable and assigned by management
Qualifications:
Knowledge and Experience
- University degree in Business/Accounting, with professional accounting designation (CPA)
- 5+ years of progressive management experience with knowledge of all aspects of corporate accounting and financial management
- Strong technical accounting skills (i.e. U.S. GAAP) and strong internal controls and procedures.
- Strong preference for candidates who have worked in an entrepreneurial, high growth environment in a privately held business. Demonstrated ability to “roll up the sleeves” and work with the team in a hands-on capacity
- Advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and knowledge of ERP accounting systems. Prior exposure to Microsoft NAV and Workday would be an asset
- Ability to hold a strong right hand to general management, and knows when to raise issues and concerns appropriately

- Expert project planning skills, including the ability to organize, prioritize and control job responsibilities in order to meet deadlines in an environment with overlapping and potentially conflicting priorities
