About the role
Job Summary Porter Airlines is undertaking a major transformation to modernize its Flight Operations systems, enhancing capabilities across Crew Operations, Airports, Scheduling, and related operational functions.
The Technology Alignment Lead – Ops Core Modernization Project will play a critical role in translating architectural design into practical technical execution. In this role, you will coordinate all technical workstreams, align design decisions with delivery plans, and support cross-functional teams in building, testing, and deploying new operational capabilities.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role dedicated to the Ops Core modernization effort. You will partner closely with solution architects, delivery partners, infrastructure teams, and software providers to ensure technical consistency, feasibility, and quality.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure solution designs for the Ops Core modernization are translated into executable technical plans and align to enterprise architecture standards, patterns, and integration principles.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact across architecture, development, infrastructure, security, and vendor teams for the project.
- Support planning and technical estimation processes, evaluating trade-offs, level of effort, and sequencing of deliverables.
- Provide guidance and oversight for the configuration, integration, and deployment of new operational system modules, ensuring non-functional requirements such as scalability, performance, and maintainability are addressed.
- Collaborate with delivery teams and vendor partners to validate technical feasibility and alignment to business outcomes.
- Identify and escalate technical risks, dependencies, and architectural deviations to project leadership and solution architects.
- Support technical issue resolution throughout design, build, testing, and cutover phases.
- Review solution designs and configuration approaches, providing feedback and coaching to ensure adherence to best practices.
- Contribute to the development of reusable assets, integration templates, and technical documentation.
- Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS), including reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply with, and promote the Company Safety Policy.
- Location information: On-site primarily. May need to work outside of regular office hours and may be required to support business needs, ensure continuity of operations and project success
Behavioural Competencies
- Concern for Safety: Identifying hazardous or potentially hazardous situations and taking appropriate action to maintain a safe environment for self and others.
- Teamwork: Working collaboratively with others to achieve organizational goals.
- Passenger/Customer Service: Providing service excellence to internal and/or external customers (passengers).
- Initiative: Dealing with situations and issues proactively and persistently, seizing opportunities that arise.
- Results Focus: Focusing efforts on achieving high quality results consistent with the organization’s standards.
- Fostering Communication: Listening and communicating openly, honestly, and respectfully with different audiences, promoting dialogue and building consensus.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years in systems development, including 2+ years in a technical lead/delivery or architecture-aligned role, focused on providing technical guidance and managing the tactical execution of established roadmaps.
- Strong technical foundation (.NET / .NET Framework) with a deep technical understanding of RESTful APIs, message-based patterns (RabbitMQ, Kafka), and enterprise integration platforms (e.g., Mulesoft).
- Adaptable Technical Engagement: While this is primarily a technical leadership and facilitation role, the candidate must maintain the ability to provide "hands-on" support, troubleshooting, or code-level intervention during critical project phases or "crunch time" scenarios.
- Proven experience delivering within AWS cloud environments, supporting distributed architectures and CI/CD pipelines, and integrating data pipelines from disparate systems
- Expertise in coordinating the delivery of mission-critical, multi-vendor platforms, serving as the primary technical bridge to resolve complex integration and environment bottlenecks.
- Highly adept at navigating ambiguous, high-velocity environments—facilitating scrum ceremonies, aligning SMEs, and driving Operational Readiness (Day 2 sustainment).
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for both internal teams and external business stakeholders.
- Proven ability to create technical user guides and documentation to support system adoption.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively within a team and accept direction.
- Aviation industry experience is considered a significant asset.
