About the role

Tomlinson is looking for a Truck Foreman to lead our fleet of Ready Mix Drivers. This role is responsible for all truck and driver daily operational activities.

Job Location: 891 Jinkinson Road, Stittsville, ON

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures the timely delivery of concrete to customer sites

  • Ensures morale is maximized through daily interactions with drivers and that drivers issues are addressed or escalated to management.

  • Tracks and verifies employee attendance and works with the customer service team to ensure customer demand is met.

  • Responsible for managing driver vacation allowances and time-off requests

  • Responsible for hiring new truck drivers and ensuring our training plans are completed

  • Reviews hours worked for accuracy prior to submission to payroll

  • Daily job site visits to ensure safety, efficiencies, concrete quality and customer needs are met

  • Perform pre-delivery site visits to ensure logistical and safety requirements are met

  • Assists garage supervisors in scheduling of maintenance and repairs

  • Liaises between the management team, Dispatch team and the driver team

  • Monitors and ensures compliance for drivers’ hours of service

  • Conducts and documents monthly Health & Safety meetings

  • Ride-a-long evaluations with drivers

  • Conducts performance evaluations

  • Writing up disciplinary actions in an unbiased, consistent manner following company procedures

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follows up with Health & Safety to ensure new employee orientation has been conducted

  • Complete accident and incident reports and files with the H&S officer

  • Complete quality reports for concrete delivery issues

  • Promote a customer service mentality with drivers

  • Monitors truck cleanliness and ensures non-essential items are not present

  • Monitors license compliance with our CVOR compliance team

  • Acts as back-up support for dispatch/batching/quality control during vacations and may provide back-up for other roles within the division

  • Assist with the implementation of new processes and procedures

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • The working conditions require the ability to work in all weather conditions

  • Heavy lifting required – up to 50 lbs.

  • On call to handle/dispatch emergencies for customers and drivers

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • DZ license
  • Computer/email/tablets skills
  • Comfortable presenting to large groups of people
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Ability to make independent decisions
  • Working knowledge of MTO regulatory requirements
