We’re looking for a Communications Coordinator to join our head office located in Vernon, British Columbia . Our Vernon office houses Tolko’s corporate services groups including Sales, Marketing & Logistics, Finance, Accounting & Credit, IT, Procurement, and Human Resources.
Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:
- 1-3 years of progressive experience in a strategic communications role - new grads will also be considered.
- University degree in Public Relations/Communications. -Strong written and verbal communication skills with a keen attention to detail .
- Superior time management and organizational skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
- An analytical mind and ability to think critically . -Proactive approach , highlighting opportunities for continuous improvement .
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proven knowledge of communications ethics and best practices .
- Resilience to adapt to rapidly changing situations and working under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Proficient with all
Microsoft Office applications
- familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint and photo editing/management software is an asset, as is general ability to quickly adopt skills to use various design applications (i.e. Canva).
- General knowledge of the forest industry or related business is an asset.
In this role you will:
-Explore and promote innovative ideas that advance Tolko’s strategic plan, assisting the communications team in developing and implementing strategies to achieve business objectives. -Provide stewardship of Tolko’s internal and external communication platforms , including TNet, Tolko.com, and Tolko’s social media channels. -Maintain and manage Tolko’s internal communication templates to ensure alignment with Tolko’s visual identity standards and guidelines.
- Establish and support an editorial content calendar to proactively leverage reputational and communications opportunities. -Research and develop story ideas and promotional opportunities by collaborating with operations staff and project team members. -Write and edit content to support internal and external communication initiatives. -Provide graphic design support for internal communication tactics and materials.
- Oversee and maintain Tolko’s corporate photo library.
- Support communication priorities by participating as a team member on assigned projects. -Plan and manage events and stakeholder meetings for internal and external audiences, as appropriate.
- Monitor media coverage and advise leadership on industry and company‑specific issues and emerging trends. -Support emergency response communications as required.
