SPP is located in Kindersley, is seeking a highly-organized, energetic, self-motivated individual to join its growing team as Senior Member Education Officer.
SPP was created in 1986 and is a fully funded, capital accumulation plan created by the provincial government and provides a professionally managed pension plan to individuals with little or no access to employer-sponsored pensions. SPP has over $900 M in assets under management and over 32,000 members.
The Opportunity
As theSenior Member Education Officer, you will:
- promote development of investment and retirement planning to SPP members;
- conduct proactive outbound calls to engage in retirement conversations with members and to focus on asset consolidation opportunities with SPP;
- work in collaboration with and across multiple departments to enhance member experience;
- participate in business development initiatives including, but not limited to onsite presentations, tradeshows and networking events;
- provide individual counselling regarding investment and retirement options to members, including potential income options;
- assist members in their decision making process by utilizing various retirement planning tools;
- instruct members on all aspects of investment and retirement planning;
- provide members and staff with technical expertise on retirement projects within the SPP; and
- develop communication materials related to retirement planning.
Qualifications:
- a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation;
- knowledge of various Canadian retirement products including defined contribution pension plans;
- strong knowledge of personal finance and investments; and
- excellent communication and presentation skills.
Typically, the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position are acquired through an Administration or Commerce Degree, together with a CFP designation and CIFC or CIFOC. This would be supplemented by completion of the Pension Plan Administration Certificate (PPAC) or the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation and related experience in pensions and/or the financial industry, together with several years of relevant experience. The successful candidate must pass the Canadian Investment Funds Course within the first six months of employment.
