Job Description:
Salary Range: $$42.57 - $59.83
Reporting to the Manager of Professional Practice and Manager of Operating Rooms and MDRD, the Clinical Educator/Facilitator (CEF) for the Operating Room Program (MDRD, Endoscopy, OR) uses adult learning principles to develop educational plans and programs in response to individual, unit or program learning needs.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to education, consultation, clinical leadership and research for the purposes of improving patient care experience, co-design and care delivery. The successful incumbent possesses outstanding communication and partnership skills and collaborates with managers to identify competencies relevant to job performance.They facilitate initiatives in alignment with organization, program and unit strategic priorities
The CEF participates and collaborates with cross functional and multidisciplinary stakeholders in the development of standards, policies and procedures to drive exceptional patient care and service delivery by critically analyzing and advocating evidence-informed practices. The physical demands of the role may include but are not limited to prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling. This position contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.
As a key member of the Perioperative nursing team, this experienced RN will work with the dynamic team in the operating room. This position contributes to ensuring there is a safe operative environment for patients, staff. The physical demands of the role may include but are not limited to sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting and bending.
This position entails a dual-role assignment where you will dedicate 0.5 FTE to direct operations in the operating room and another 0.5 FTE as a Clinical Educator Facilitator. In this capacity, you will apply your skills and expertise both in the OR and in enhancing the educational development of your team across the OR, endoscopy, and MDRD units.
Posted hours do not constitute a guarantee that shifts will not be subject to change.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Current certificate of registration with the College of Nurses in Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing required
- Diploma or Baccalaureate degree in Nursing required
- Minimum of 5 years’ recent experience in perioperative nursing
- Master’s degree in Nursing is preferred
- CNA certification in Perioperative Nursing ® is preferred
- Current BCLS required, ACLS an asset
- Must demonstrate evidence of clinical reasoning, problem solving and expanded clinical leadership
- Completion of basic arrhythmia course an asset
- Willingness to complete CMH leadership courses within 6 months of hire
- Recent formal education and experience in adult education within the past 2 years
- Demonstrated advanced critical thinking, process improvement/redesign, and problem solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to engage and lead teams and work in a self-directed, fast paced environment with an interdisciplinary team
- Must demonstrate evidence of clinical reasoning, problem solving and expanded clinical leadership
- Outstanding organizational skills required
- Professional practice experience in program planning, curriculum design, learning technologies, and facilitation skills within the past 2 years
- Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office, PICIS and Meditech required
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis is required
