The Drug Plan and Extended Benefits Branch is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to work in a team environment in the Client Services Unit.
The successful candidate will be responsible for calculating and adjudicating income and drug costs for special support applications, adjudicating income for Seniors’ Drug Plan and Special-Care Home resident rates, and reviewing and processing a variety of program applications and invoices. Other program support functions will include but are not limited to: opening and distributing daily mail, scanning mail, electronic filing, data entry, routing emails, filing, printing letters, archiving, tracking statistics and providing information to clients who access our program.
The successful candidate will have strong oral and written communication skills, the ability to accurately reference and apply legislation and policies to daily work and the ability to accurately input, edit and retrieve information using a computerized database system. Knowledge of medical terminology is considered an asset.
You will have knowledge of:
- record retention practices and procedures;
You will have the demonstrated ability to:
- accurately and promptly enter, edit and retrieve information using applications such as word processing, databases and various other software packages;
- accurately reference and apply regulations, policies and procedures;
- interact effectively with people who may be angry, rude, upset, confused or frustrated;
- provide clear, concise and accurate information on program eligibility and benefits through written and verbal communications to a variety of audiences;
- accurately perform basic mathematical calculations;
- work under minimal supervision and assist others in a team environment carrying out the same duties and responsibilities;
- independently organize and prioritize your own workload to respond to demands, changing priorities and interruptions; and
- operate and troubleshoot a variety of office equipment according to procedures in order to minimize delays in service and ensure efficient usage.

- flexible and adaptable to positively meet new challenges in a demanding and changing work environment; and
- self-confident, self-directed and organized to complete tasks in an accurate and a timely manner.
