Overview
As the Production Manager, you will oversee daily manufacturing operations and lead a team of Production Supervisors to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production across all shifts. You’ll drive continuous improvement, uphold safety and environmental standards, and lead efforts to meet production goals, while coaching and developing your team.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Environment
- Lead the safety initiatives and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulation.
- Work closely with the Health & Safety team to implement policies and promote a safe, hazard-free work environment
Production Management
- Lead and support Production Supervisors to achieve daily production goals
- Manage staffing, scheduling, and training to meet business needs
- Handle conflict resolution, performance management, and team development
- Monitor production processes, identify areas for improvement, and take corrective actions
Quality Control & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to SQF, GMP, HACCP, and company quality standards
- Monitor and enforce compliance with food safety and sanitation policies
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality and efficiency
Operational Oversight
- Oversee production targets and ensure on-time delivery
- Lead Lean initiatives to optimize machine utilization and reduce scrap
- Coordinate unplanned outages and resolve production bottlenecks quickly
- Manage production reporting, track costs, and communicate results effectively
What we are looking for
- Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field (preferred)
- 5+ years of management experience in manufacturing, preferably in plastics or food packaging
- Proven ability to lead and coach teams in a unionized environment
- Strong experience with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies
- Knowledge of food safety regulations (Safe Food for Canadians Act) and HACCP, GMP, SQF
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Familiarity with manufacturing software and MS Office tools
