Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Technical Healthcare Architect with a proven track record in the medical planning and design of complex hospital projects and related healthcare facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading client-facing engagements, developing strategic hospital layouts, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver fully integrated design solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the medical planning and architectural design of major hospital projects, particularly in acute care departments such as Emergency, Diagnostic Imaging, and Surgical Services.
- Conduct and facilitate client consultations, user group meetings, and stakeholder workshops.
- Develop strategic hospital layouts and organisational planning during early design phases and for competitions.
- Collaborate closely with building services engineers and other design professionals to produce fully coordinated design documentation.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while managing project deliverables and timelines.
- Contribute to the studio’s design excellence and innovation in healthcare architecture.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Registered Architect (OAA preferred) with experience in healthcare projects.
- Proven ability to lead all phases of the project lifecycle—from briefing to substantial performance.
- Strong track record in business development and managing multi-disciplinary teams independently.
- Expertise in strategic planning, conceptual design, technical detailing, and construction documentation.
- Solid understanding of zoning bylaws, Ontario Building Code, and healthcare design standards.
- Highly proficient in Revit and other BIM tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
