About the role

Location: Montreal, Quebec

Work Model: Hybrid, 2 days per week in office Salary: $90,000 to $105,000 Language Requirement: French and English

We are recruiting a highly technical and hands-on Bilingual Customs Regulatory Compliance Consultant for a well-established customs brokerage and logistics organization in Montreal. This is not a high-level advisory role where the work is passed to another team. You will consult directly with clients and personally complete the technical customs work required to support them.

What You Will Do

Manage a portfolio of key importer accounts as their primary customs compliance consultant. Advise clients on tariff classification, customs valuation, country of origin, trade agreements, duty relief, refunds, and Canadian import regulations. Personally prepare and manage duty drawback claims from start to finish. Review import and export records, calculate recoverable duties, gather supporting documentation, and submit completed claims. Identify overpaid duties, compliance gaps, and potential recovery opportunities. Prepare customs appeals, adjustment requests, refund claims, ruling requests, and other regulatory submissions. Conduct technical research and prepare written customs opinions supported by legislation, CBSA policies, rulings, and trade agreements. Support clients through CBSA audits, verifications, reassessments, and compliance reviews. Conduct mock audits and recommend corrective actions related to classification, valuation, origin, recordkeeping, and documentation. Communicate directly with CBSA, CITT, the Department of Finance, and other government agencies. Analyze customs and import data using Excel. Deliver training and technical guidance to clients and internal teams.

What You Bring

7 or more years of Canadian customs, brokerage, trade compliance, or consulting experience. Certified Customs Specialist designation. Hands-on experience completing duty drawbacks, refunds, appeals, rulings, and customs submissions. Strong knowledge of Canadian customs regulations, tariff classification, valuation, origin, and duty relief. Experience supporting CBSA audits or compliance verifications. Strong regulatory research and technical writing skills. Intermediate or advanced Excel skills. Fluency in French and English.

This role is ideal for a customs professional who enjoys solving complex regulatory issues, working directly with clients, and taking ownership of technical files from initial review through final submission.
